It is said that, " All readers are not leaders but all leaders are readers." Even the most pugnacious of all humans can't refute this. It is also said that the type of materials you read today constitute the amalgamation of person you are going to become tommorow. That's why since our childhood we are given filtered materials and manuscripts that are suitable and splendid for us; or at least that's what they say.
You see all the successful people and charismatic idols are devoted readers. Warren Buffet reads about 5-6hrs daily and addresses that reading vouchsafes him bounteous knowledge and makes him a better person. Even when Bill Gates was asked in a interview that if he could get a super power then what kind of power would he like to get. His answer was so intriguing yet remarkable that I would write it down in his own words in italics for you.
"I would like to have a power by which I can read books faster." His answer is backed by the astounding fact that he reads more than 50 books every year. That's a book every week and definitely a stupendous number!
No doubt book reading is the epitome of a terrific habit. I commend everyone reading this blog to cultivate this marvellous habit in your lives to foster growth and become your better selves. There are many nefty advantages of cultivating this worthwhile habit.
First of all no big investment is required. Instead of spending huge sums of money on shitty pep talks or futile courses with not practical significance, get a book and read it by your own. Also in this pandemic situation when we can't get the best of all possibilities available, book reading is the need of the hour for self development. The learning charm and growth ideas that many good books hold are impeccable. And to embark on these tremendous amounts of knowledge capricious growth opportunities all you need is a nice place to sit and decent little book.
Second of all it makes you self educated. You see, most of the successful prodigies are not formally educated but rather self educated. Being self educated means that you have trained your mind in such a way that now you can use it to do wonders. Being self educated is all about having the maturity and wisdom to stay in the right path. Reading books vouchsafes you vital and paramount knowledge that they never teach in school. It makes you reflect on the surroundings and on your life through the insights that you learn from the books, aiding you to engender the type of life you are zealous for.
Third and most importantly, it liberates you. It emancipates you from all the retarding impediments and sets you on a track of growth, joy, health and life. Logically, after cultivating reading habit, you won't be having time to waste on bullshits. And of course it will be way better than busting in front of a television, dead-eyed as zombie and watching fickle dramatic shows that make you an emotional fool! So after cultivating this habit, instead of shitting around, you will unleash bounteous productivity.
Well learning without doing is futile. My purpose for writing this blog was not to just jot down some theories and philosophies but to espouse true productivity. So here are some dynamic ways to kickstart reading.
1.) FIND YOUR INTEREST
It's that simple. Decide which realm of books you want to dive into. To polarise, it can be fiction or nonfiction. Ranging from self-help books to novels, from informative and knowledge-based to literature, from spirituality to Romeo fantasy. It can be anything; anything which excites you.
2.) SCHEDULE YOU READING TIME
How perpetually do you spurn to catch up with something which has a sharp schedule for example, your zoom meeting or cricket match. The vulnerability of missing to attend them impels you to be on time. Hence when you plan and schedule your reading time, your subconscious mind will automatically drive you to effectuate that job.
3.) STIPULATE A JOB
Quite similar to scheduling your reading time, just finalize a finishing date for the book your are reading. And of course don't finalize a date too early or too late. Get a date which will be slightly a challenge to your current reading speed and have the courage to linger to it. Be a man/lady/girl/boy/gay/lesbian/others of your word. For example, if your book has 200 pages and by your current reading speed you read 20 pages per day and finish it in 10 days, then accept the challenge and read 25 pages per day and complete your book in 8 days. Likewise I commenced reading this year since January with a mere speed of 15-20 pages per day and aimed to effectuate 12 books in 12 months. But I don't know why reading is so addictive for me that I have well encountered those 12 books in mere 6 months( subtract 1 month from it since I was ill a whole month so the princely sum is just 5 months!) and now I naturally read 80-100 pages every day.
Coming a little out of plot, I recently threw a challenge to my pal( ummm, call him poop master) to effectuate a book by 15th of September. Now let's see how his subconscious responds to effectuate the challenge.
Now the bottom line is that when you stipulate a date for any task to get effectuated, your subconscious mind takes the steering wheel and impels you to come up with actions and maneuvers to get the job done. It's that simple.
4.) BE AN OPTIMIST
This is requisite in the long run. Don't get extreme in reading just for the sake of finishing, even when you don't feel like, just for doing the fickle naked drama of posting on social media with a caption like: "Just completed this so and so book. #amazed#cool#skirt" and blah blah blah! Don't get tormented while reading claiming that you have a great will power. I am not refuting the fact that will power is indispensable for a productive life but will power always submits to love power. Because when you love doing something you actually won't need to rely on your will power since your love power shall do the magic and you shall be immersed in the flow of reading. Read your book with love love, with curiosity and with the essence of life and imbibe the insights for becoming better, happier and fuller. Remember to do everything for the sake of doing. Any reward beyond that shall be a bonus.
Now that's all from my side and I'll just finish this up with some book recommendations for you to commence with:-
