"SELF DEVELOPMENT"— A mistaken concept

We live in an environment where always the quantity of work is preferred over the quality of work. No matter whether the work is yielding progressive outcomes or not, never even a minute of progress tracking negotiation is approched not only individually but also organizationally.The pathetic conventional wisdom about self development is always running after the instant gratification and never actually focuses on the real domain-specific development. Hence, it becomes radically significant for us to distinguish between the fruiless conventional practice and what actually works. With the actual concept of self development in our favor, the path for greater success will be crystal-clear and the tedious chase will be faster than ever anticipated. So, here it goes.

Self Development— A mistaken concept

Self development, which is mostly mistaken by the conventional wisdom, is not just about doing 100squats everyday or owning a Porsche. It is also not even about making a newer and sexier girlfriend/boyfriend every month or so. But it is rather about being the better version of yourself, better that you were yesterday. 

It is about waking up every day with a strong sense of purpose. A purpose which is bigger than ourselves. Self development is about having a passion in your interested values, beliefs and domains and getting better at them everyday with utter motivation, committment and self discipline for its intensive practice. 

Doing something you don't like causes stress, doing what you love is passion!

It is an iconic saying by Simon Sinek that—"Doing something you don't like causes stress, doing what you love is passion." 

Your passion enables you to put your purpose to life. Your passion motivates you, it motivates you to embrace why are you doing what are you doing. When life pulls you back, it motivates you to hustle, hustle in every possible way. Your passion is your fuel towards your undying commitment and rigorous practice for your goal. It won't be inaccurate in telling that without passion, the charisma goes fuzzy.

Where does actual self development lie?

Self development is the dare to push past your current limits and get better at your specific domains. It is about having the courage to put on your extra efforts daily for your most desirable goals. Self development should be regular. Self development should be embraced not because you have to or are instructed to but because you want to. Because you have the fire within you to chase your dreams, to push past your current limits, to get better and to achieve milestones that no one ever thought possible.

Coming to the most significant reality, I would like to challenge the conventional thinking again: Self development is not an ability, but an action. It neither comes from genetic inheritance nor it is the goal itself but rather lies in the process. Always remember that irrespective of your field, there's a universal truth that 'the process is always more important than the goal.' Your goal is the tangible element that justifies your chase for the goal but the real fruit lies in the chase only. The chase is the sheer pursuit for your tangible elements whom we call goals. And the process only develops you when it is given greater importance than anything. Put it simple, the process involves the practice, trials, errors, struggles, hustles and many more. You can't learn to ride a bicycle by just focusing on the stunts you would do when you master it or the races you would go into. Now I can sense the howls from the readers telling that those stunts and races are the goals that inginte the motivation within an individual to continue on the butt-hurting practice. Well, exactly! That's what I am telling. That those are the goals (passion) which render us with the motivation to put our work ethic but our focus should rather be on the process of development to surmount all of what impedes our way. Reason: It is simple, when our focus is on the goal and not on the process, we tend to get exhausted in the journey of accomplishing what we are working for.We get desperate to get the results since we don't acknowledge the necessary struggles in the trek. And here's the trouble. Remember, you can never get astounding results unless you have put your immense work into the equation. The journey towards becoming a prodigy in your respected field requires dreadful efforts and it is never a transaction of a day, a week or even a month but instead it is an arduous trek and patience has to be filled in the equation for unleashing maximum achievement. So here's the bottom line: Your goal is determined by your passion and your achieving of your goal is determined by your endeavors.
